Sooo… Speaking in “tongues”. Lets talk about it. Next time your in church and you hear someone speaking in “tongue” PLEASE ask them what they just said. Acts 2:2-11
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own LANGUAGE.
And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus,
Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
Okay we we hear this we think of what people are doing in church but thats not what the bible is referring to when it says tongues. What this passage is talking about is all of these different nations or their NATIVE TONGUE. When you hear someone speaking in a foreign language you might think it sounds funny right? Because thats their language. When it refers to having an interpreter. For example a french man goes to an all english church we are speaking in TONGUES ( OUR language) to him and some has to interpret to him what is being said. The reason no-one can tell you what they said in “tongues” at church is because the language is made up…
When we go back to Genesis and the tower of babel is being built God split all of them up and gave them different languages so they wouldn’t be able to understand each other but God can understand them perfectly because it is his doing. Hope this helps…please go to IOGNEWS ON YOUTUBE.
