Spiritual Love

I DO NOT OWN THIS PICTURE

When we think of love we really think that means, “love them if they love you” or “love them in spite of their selves”. That’s not love, that’s infatuation, and conditional love. While Jesus is a conditional God his conditions are much more pure than ours. When God talks about his love this is what he means.

When I say to love someone in spite of their selves I mean that if someone is hurting their selves would you stand by, and let them continue to hurt their selves or would you tell them the truth, and try to save them?

These are some scriptures related to that,

John 14:23

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Upon coming into the truth ive learned that we cannot stay us, we have to become like God, and we have to help our brothers and sisters become like God also. So we can’t say we love someone, then when they error we don’t exhort them.

Here are some scriptures related to this,

1 John 5:2

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

James 5:19-20

19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Matthew 18:15-17

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican

Proverbs 9:8-9
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

A great example is Jesus himself when he was with his disciples. He showed us that not everyone is brother or a sister.

Matthew 12:50

50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

The reason I showed this first is to show that Peter had a spirit come on him that he didn’t realize, he was thinking carnally when it had come for Jesus to die. But Jesus through love exhorted Peter.

Matthew 16:21-23

21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Now Jesus wasn’t calling Peter Satan, but Peter was speaking in the spirit of Satan because he didn’t want him to die. And if Jesus doesn’t die, no one of us alive will get a chance at eternal life. Satan did not want that from the beginning, and he knows his time is short.

One last scripture to piece it all together is 1 Peter 3:8

1 Peter 3:8-9

8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

This is God’s definition of love.

Peace
