So often times I hear that God is love which very is true,
1 John 4:7-8
7- Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8- He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
But our carnal definition of love, and God’s definition of love are two completely different things.
See, God’s love is pure and undefiled whereas our “love” is full of filth. I mean have you ever asked yourself about our love among mankind. Some examples,
The Lord is all about respect for the brethren, and most importantly respect, honor, and obedience for HIM.
~ We say we love our brothers and sisters, yet we don’t do things profitable for them.
James 2:15-16
15- If a brother or a sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16- And one of you say unto them, depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding he give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
~We say we love our parents but don’t respect them.
Exodus 20:12
12- Honor thy father and they mother; that thy days may be long upon the land the Lord thy God giveth thee.
~ We say we love our children, but don’t want to discipline them because of political correctness.
Proverbs 23:13
13- Withhold not correction the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
~We say we love our spouse but cheat on them.
Exodus 20:14- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
All of these examples are summed up In one scripture.
John 14:15- If ye love me, keep my commandments.
We show God we love him by keeping these commandments that I gave an example of above.
1 John 5:2-3- By this we know that we love the children of God, when love God, and keep his commandments.
3- For this is the love of God that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
And this is what our master said,
Matthew 19:16-19
16- And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17- And he said unto him, why callest thou me good? There is none but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18- He saith unto him, which? Jesus said, thou shalt do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness,
19- Honour thy father and thy mother: and, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
